Snow Tubing in Steamboat Springs

snow tubing sledding in steamboat springs

Let the Tubing Fun Begin!

Tubing is like sledding but instead of that hard plastic or metal sled you get to race down the hill in a blown up tube! It makes for a fun bouncy fast ride that makes sledding so much fun!

Where to Snow Tube
There are two different areas in Steamboat where you can go tubing- please note that it is illegal to actually sled or snow tube on the Steamboat Ski Resort. That is why there are designated areas to tube and sled!

  • Howelsen Hill- Downtown Steamboat
Howelsen Hill is home to Steamboat's Olympians, winter training courses and of course an awesome sledding hill! Ride the magic carpet to the top of the hill then come flying down in your snow tube! The hill is lit up at night and they provide the tubes!

    • Pay for One Hour Tubing Sessions beginning at 4:30pm.
    • Get your own Tube to play on
    • Sledding Hill Open All Winter (Weather conditions permitting)
    • Take the ResortQuest Free Shuttle to get to you to the hill

  • Yee-Haw Hill at Saddleback Ranch
Saddleback Ranch has acres of land to play on and with their Yee-Haw hill you'll have a great time tubing and sledding. You can even take the tow-rope to the top of the hill then send yourself and tubing buddies speeding down the slope!

    • Pay For One or Two Hour Tubing Sessions
    • Saddleback Ranch provides your sledding tubes
    • Check out all the other activities on the Ranch including snowmobiling, sleigh rides and more.
    • Free Transportation is provided if you tube for an 1 1/2 hours.

What to Wear For Tubing

Winter tubing is just like sledding or any other outdoor winter sport- be prepared for cold weather and changing weather conditions. Wear lots of layers to ensure you are warm enough, good waterproof warm boots, snow pants and warm jacket, hat, gloves and sunglasses. Helmets are recommended for tubing but no required.
