The mission of the Steamboat Springs Orchestra (SSO) is to nourish the hearts and minds of the people of northwest Colorado through challenging and rewarding orchestral experiences. This is accomplished by providing an outstanding professional orchestra with a community component to provide entertainment and education to the region and by offering a high quality youth orchestra and chamber music program to foster the love of the art-form of classical music in our young people.
What began 14 years ago as a charming community ensemble has transformed in the last several years into a thriving orchestra with a majority of local professional core players with a surprising depth of experience. SSO includes a Woodwind Quintet and String Quartet, which perform regularly at special events on behalf of SSO.
