This year, 3 new routes were added in addition to the Classic Tour de Steamboat - Stagecoach Out-n-Back (40 miles), Old Schoolhouse Ride (20 miles), and the "Family Friendly" Yampa Valley Core Trail.
- The Classic Tour de Steamboat route is +/- 110 miles, and starts on Highway 40 & proceeds over Rabbit Ears Pass, Muddy Pass and Gore Pass. Cycling enthusiasts will surely enjoy this scenic route!
- The Stagecoach Out-n-Back is 40 miles following the Yampa river upstream to the Stagecoach reservoir where riders can rest at the Stagecoach aid station before turning around and sharing the route back to the finish with the Tour de Steamboat riders back to the Finish. Don’t be fooled, this route does have some climbing along the way, with a traverse of the Yellow Jacket pass.
- The "Family Friendly" route will have a lemonade stand along the trail to enjoy refreshments along the way. Stops for this route include playgrounds, the river, trails for hiking, restaurants, ice cream or places to rest for a bit. This route is free for all to enjoy!

In 2008, the Tour de Steamboat raised over $20,000.00 for the Sunshine Kids, well exceeding their goals for this event.
The Sunshine Kids Foundation adds quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they may once again do what kids are supposed to do . . . have fun and celebrate life!
It is the goal of the Sunshine Kids Organization to provide young cancer patients with opportunities to participate in positive group activities which promote self-esteem, personal accomplishment and just plain old fashioned fun! Funded by personal contributions, corporations and foundations, the Sunshine Kids continues, as it has since its inception, to provide all of its activities completely free of charge to the children’s families and hospitals.
