Thinking about coming to Steamboat for Marathon Weekend? Even if you are not participating in the Steamboat Marathon event, there is plenty to see and do!

Activities & Events:

  • June 5: FREE! Kids Events:
    • Touch-A-Truck: 10:00am- 1pm
      Touch a Truck is a FREE community event for everyone. Come down to Howelsen Park to see a variety of trucks and vehicles on display including fire trucks, busses, dump trucks, four wheelers and even a zamboni! Kids are welcome to check out the trucks up close, sitouch a truckt in the driver’s seat and even honk the horns. This event will go on rain or shine. Brought to you by the City of Steamboat Springs, MainStreet Steamboat.
  • June 6: FREE! Kids Events:
    • Dig This Free Kids Day: 10-3pm
      Dig This is offering a day for the kids! Kids will be able to get behind the controls of some of their favorite big machinery with licensed instructor of course! This is a free event but a donation is recommended to support the local Lions Club which supports local kids organizations and non-profits. Dig This will offer a shuttle service from the transit center down by the community center. Look for the Dig This tent. More on Dig This.

  • FREE! Spectator Event: Steamboat Marathon - starts at 7:30am - Sunday, June 6th
    Selected by Runner's World as one of the "10 Most Scenic Marathons of the Year" in February 1996, the Steamboat Marathon begins at the historic Hahn's Peak Village (elevation 8,128 ft.), follows a paved country road down the Elk River Valley, and finishes at the courthouse in downtown Steamboat Springs (elevation 6,728 ft.). If you are interested in participating in the Steamboat Marathon, more information is available at Steamboat Chamber .
  • Soak in Steamboat's Hot Springs
    There are over 150 mineral springs in the Steamboat area! Strawberry Park Hot Springs is the perfect place to unwind and relax after a full day of recreation.
  • Hike the Fish Creek Falls Trail
    The 283-foot Fish Creek Falls is one of the most popular attractions in Steamboat Springs. It's located close to downtown, and is a paved road to the trailhead. It is considered a beginner trail to the falls, but becomes more advanced if you continue on as the trail climbs in elevation above the falls. The area near the Continental Divide offers access to several lakes and many sub alpine meadows.

  • Experience Mountain Golf
    Located 5 miles west of town, the Steamboat Golf Club course borders the Yampa River, featuring beautiful views of the valley and the Steamboat Ski Area. This golf club is family oriented & affordable! Tee times available daily from 10am-5pm. Call (970) 879-4295 for the latest golf specials!

  • Paddle the Yampa River
    Looking for whitewater? Steamboat has it! The Steamboat Springs Whitewater Park is a Class II section of the Yampa River, over 2 miles long through downtown Steamboat. The park begins with a slalom course followed by several excellent rapids that provide great surfing opportunities. This time of year, the Yampa has ideal river boarding levels!
