The Strings in the Mountains Music Festival is the highlight of music festivals in Steamboat Springs. Strings is a nationally recognized, award-winning music festival which presents over 85 performances of chamber music, jazz, rock, country, bluegrass, world rhythms, and many other genres every summer. Artists include Grammy winners and nominees, major competition winners and principal players from the most renowned orchestras and international soloists.

The new Strings Music Pavilion opened its doors for the first time on Saturday, June 28th 2008! With a larger stage and enhanced acoustics, audiences will appreciate the improved concert experience, while maintaining the casual & intimate character of the Music Festival. The unique interior and superior sound quality make the Pavilion a world-class music facility!

- July 8: Opening Night performance with the on performing a scintillating overture to The Barber of Seville
- July 13: in a duo piano recital
- July 17: 2nd annual free community matinee showcasing the talents of three versatile musicians: soprano on marimba and pianist , accompanied by Music Directors Andrés Cárdenes and Monique Mead. This performance, “Bach to Broadway”, will include works by The Beatles, Sarasate, and Puccini.
- July 20: Strings Music Festival weekly themes Bright Stars of Classical Music, including the 16 year old winner of the 2010 Stradivarius International Violin Competition,
- Aug. 10:
- Aug. 13: featuring works by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Beethoven.
